By JANET KEHRES Daily Globe Correspondent

From the labor force to Senior Executive Vice President was the successful career of F. Bill Damron ’58.

While at SHS Damron, a 2021 inductee into the SHS Hall of Distinction won varsity letters in baseball, basketball, football, and track.

After graduating he entered the workforce. A few years later he was encouraged to apply for a trainee position at a local finance company. Damron applied and he continued to earn promotions that took him to several other Ohio cities. Along the way, he made time for higher education and was earning banking certificates from several universities such as Ohio, Oklahoma, and Miami of Ohio.

Eventually, he rose to Senior Executive Vice President at Wayne County National Bank of Wooster. During the last two years of his banking career, Damron served on the Board of Directors of Chippewa Valley Bank.

He also made time to be actively involved in several community organizations. A fellow alum stated, “Bill is a classic example of someone who bloomed late and kept on blooming brightly for many years.”
