Here Come the Mummies is back in concert at the Renaissance Theatre

MANSFIELD, OHIO. Here Come the Mummies, a funk-rock band whose members perform dressed as mummies, will return to the Renaissance Theatre for a one-night only concert October 2 at 8:00 PM. Special guest Desmond Jones is set to open the concert, with doors opening at 7:30 PM.

If you don’t know about the Nashville-based band, the members dress in mummy costumes and go by aliases like Mummy Cass, High Priest of Death, Motherlode, and K.W. Tut., all while playing blues and funk influenced-music. The 20-year-old band has a long relationship with the “Bob and Tom” morning show—there are tons of videos showing the band packing into the radio studio, in costume, while performing songs like “Booty” and “Libido Knievel.”

For 20 years now, the rotating crew of eight or nine Nashvillebased musicians has also been sworn to secrecy, keeping members’ identities under wraps with their mummy costumes and colorful aliases like KW TUT, Mummy Rah and Eddie Mummy. Print interviews are conducted exclusively via email. HCTM mentions rumors that its ranks contain incognito Grammy winners, Music City players who can’t unravel their identities due to contracts they have with other bands.
