Jerry Jennings

Jerry Jennings, age 79, of Shelby, died Friday, November 26, 2021 at his home.

Jerry was born October 2, 1942 in Morehead, KY to the late Silas and Elizabeth (Workman) Jennings. He was a 1960 graduate of Shelby High School and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving our country from 1961-1965. Jerry was a 22-year employee of AMF in Shelby. Following AMF, Jerry was a self-employed painting contractor for several years. Jerry enjoyed golfing, playing softball, watching the Cleveland Browns, and bowled for many years. He was a member of the Shelby Eagles, Shelby Owls, and the Plymouth American Legion.

Jerry is survived by his children:

Danita (Dan) Castor of Indiana, Robin (Justine) Jennings of Indiana, and Michelle (John) Powell of Shelby; 7 grandchildren: Mikayla, Taylor, Mara, Ashleigh, Sheridan, Jillian, and Gabby; 2 great grandchildren: Brennan and Adalynn; a sister: Audra (John) Mclean of Goshen; a brother: Larry Jennings of Goshen; and a brother-inlaw: Don Roberts of Shelby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Frances E. Jennings in 2004 and his sister: Juanita Roberts.

Family and friends are welcome on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 11:30 am-12:30 pm at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will immediately follow at 12:30 pm. Chaplain Ben Roby with Southern Care Hospice will officiate the services. Military honors conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail will take place at the funeral home with burial following in Mansfield Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.
