SOFTBALL Gwirtz Foods wins via shutout

Gwirtz Foods took advantage of solid pitching and defense to score a 6-0 major division win against Healing Hands during play in the Shelby Girls Softball League Thursday night at the Dowds School complex.

Jordyn Thauvette tossed a four-hit shutout in the victory. She struck out 13 batters and walked five.

Liberty Lewis, Raegan Mccoy and Thauvette collected a pair of hits to lead Gwirtz Foods. Makayla Bowman and Megan Adkins each had a hit.

Peyton Bruskotter smacked two hits for Healing Hands. Karlie Fuller and Ariah Zickefoose each had a hit.

In the loss, Bruskotter scattered eight hits while fanning 13 and walking one.

HRC Enterprise 7, Alliance Church 4

HRC Enterprise posted a 7-4 minor division softball win against the Shelby Alliance Church at the Dowds School complex.

In a high-scoring coach pitch game, Park National Bank outdueled Milliron Auto Parts 20-10 at the Dowds School complex.

Park National Bank turned a double play to end the game. Cici Buzard caught a line drive and threw to Norah Perkins at first base to double off a baserunner.
